“I don’t have a good explanation” for why prices continue to rise, said Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst for gasbuddy.com.
I do, Obama.

refineries are DELIBERATELY being run a t less than capacity.
with demand down, if they were being operated at pre-2012 levels, prices would have dropped like a rock.

This is exactly what President Obama wants. His April 21, 2011 task force on high oil and gas prices did absolutely nothing. Shame on Obama.

With the tax induced changes coming in 2013, oil prices very well may be the least our economic worries.

This backs up the fact that the prices are high for no legitimate reason.

"Watch gas fall after the ELECTION. BIG OIL just wants be sure that President Obama doesn't get any help because the ECOMONY is picking up." Obama getting help? don't make me laugh, the media is purposefully hiding his ineptitude. If the media did their job, there would be no way Obama could be re-elected. They hide or don't question anything. Have you heard about the ambassador being killed in Libya? Not much coverage on the news.

Well, the gas prices rise every year so I would expect 2013 to be more painful then this year and keep rising years afterwards.

Sooner or later, gas prices are going to be so high, the cost of an electric car will be offset by the cost of gas. Seems like the oil companies are setting themselves up for a big fall. Yes EV's have there problem... but to go to work and the grocery store will be fine for short trips. I spend about $294.00 per month on gas for my $2007 Jeep Cherokee. That's $4,728 per year or $23,640 in gas costs in a 5 year period. Generally I keep my car 5 years. With the Governments $7,500 energy credit for an EV... I could save about $27,300 with the purchase of an EV. An Nissan leaf in El Paso would give me about 99 Miles per gallon at our KWH rate of 11.5/kwh. Compared to the 12.5 mile/gallon on my 2007 Jeep Cherokee, An equal estimated fill up on the EV would be would cost me $19.80 Compared to the $73.00 I pay to put 20 gallons in my Cherokee

Gas prices will just keep rising every single year because we have a president, a bunch of senators, and representatives, who for the most part, do not have even the slightest interest in regulating speculators. Until we elect people who are more interested in servicing the needs of the people before collecting bribes and donations from big oil and big banks, we will pay out of our *sses for our way overpriced oil and gasoline.
THANKS OBAMA, FOR DOING NOTHING TO HELP THE LOWER AND MIDDLE CLASS EXCEPT FOR GIVING FOOD STAMPS TO A WHOPPING 15 MILLION MORE PEOPLE IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS. OUR UTILITY BILLS HAVE SKYROCKETED, THE PRICE OF GAS MORE THAN DOUBLED SINCE YOU BECAME PRESIDENT, AND YOU, YOUR WIFE, AND OUR GOVERNMENT HAVE WASTED MORE TAX DOLLARS THAN EVERY POLITICIAN EVER IN OUR HISTORY. HOPEFULLY, ENOUGH INTELLIGENT PEOPLE WILL VOTE YOU OUT OF OFFICE BECAUSE FOUR MORE YEARS OF YOU AS PRESIDENT WILL DESTROY OUR DEMOCRACY, EMPTY OUR POCKETS, AND LEAD US INTO A DEPRESSION. AND GOOD RIDDANCE IF YOU ARE VOTED OUT OF WASHINGTON. PLEASE, AMERICA, I AM A DEMOCRAT WITH A CONSCIENCE. DO NOT VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS BLACK OR BECAUSE HE IS COOL. WAKE UP!!!

It would be a lot less painful if we have someone in the White House to lead this country who has ALWAYS been proud of this country, has a genuine love for this great Republic and the Constitution, has never apologized for this country being great, has never bowed to other leaders and would stop the villification of the fossil fuel industry.
The above is just the short list.

IT'S THE "FEDERAL" RESERVE that's weakening how much our dollars are worth on the world's markets!

ricebike says: "the prices will fall before and during the election if they want to see voters drive out to the booths..." Not necessarily. The candidates will cheerfully provide transportation to the polls for anyone who will vote for them. Just call their local office and tell them you want to help reelect them but you can't get out to vote. And after they do that they'll calculate how many miles they or their campaign workers/volunteers drove and they will put that right there in their expense account, so we'll all get to help pay for it. It's a beautiful system we have...

No refineries in the Northeast and high transportation costs of diesel nationwide would be a clue to help investigating the question of why fuel costs more in the Northeast. Go get em Patrick. You're tops in your investigative field. :)
