Learn the difference between a tax deduction and a subsidy. A tax deduction is a reduction in gross income to recover a recognized cost of generating income such as depreciation, employee health insurance, etcetera. A subsidy, a.k.a. grant, is a hand out of cash in order to support an activity that could not otherwise be conducted based solely on its own efforts due to its products uncompetitive economically such as solar and wind electricity generation, etcetara.

Yes, no more subsidies. Instead the government should tax all non-renewable fuels enough to make them uncompetitive. The government could probably collect 12B$ every year.

I agree that the government should stop subsidizing all forms of energy and let the free market sort this out on its own. Nevertheless, the savings being discussed here come to only 1% of the current federal deficit. There must be other more significant savings to be found in that monsterous federal budget.

Subsidies are BAD. Broken As Designed!Tax payers foot the bill for the susidy and ALSO pay highe prices because price gougers charge more Gov't subsidies go to the price gougers who do not see as many lost sales due to too high prices!

Ha!
“Sequestration is bad. It is irresponsible. It would cut the best and the worst the government has to offer without distinction,” Taxpayers for Common Sense president Ryan Alexander said in a statement.
“And no amount of finger pointing can change the fact that both Congress and the President are responsible for this threat,” she continued.
Congress is 100% responsible for this. Obama offered a deal. $10 in spending cuts for every $1 tax increase to the top 1%. And the GOP said 'no'.
Don't vote for those terrorist, anti-patriotic tea baggers who almost made this country default on our debt - in violation of our constitution!

If we could manage the government better we could cut the deficite..Crack down on the businesses that do medicare fraud... Have a government agency that can stop us from buying the $1200.00 hammers and the $900.00 crecent wrenches... among other government wastes. And while we are at it... cut out the grants that give $200.00 for someone to study the mating habits of the teetsy fly.. FYI flies, are large biting flies that inhabit much of Jamaica and mid-continental Africa between the Sahara and the Kalahari deserts. They live by feeding on the blood of vertebrate animal.. Heck, we don't have them here in the U.S. they are in Africa!

Wacko greenie companies in the environmental green sense represent a drop in the bucket compared to wacko greenie corporations in the money green sense, who have gamed the whole system to their kleptocratic advantage. Big Oil, Big Defense, Big Pharma, Big Brother. Amazing how some fail to see the Big Picture. You're so Bain you probably think this post is about you, parrot squawking Fox know-nothings.

"It would cut the best and the worst the government has to offer without distinction," I agree the sequestration is bad... however, it would do something that Congress doesn't have the ability to do and that is cut spending.

I agree cut where wasteful first, but who makes up that list..... we have all had to learn to live on less and so does the government, but alas then we all have to pay a fare share, maybe some of it in a national sales tax form on all we buy. That way everyone gets to pay a little with no exceptions. Guess we will not see that one.
