Gas price spikes are definitely suspicious

recorderonline -- Motorists have had plenty of reason to be a little hot under the collar the past two weeks. If it wasn’t the triple-digit temperatures, it was the huge spike in gas prices seen since a refinery fire near San Francisco occurred on Aug. 6.

Almost immediately, in some cases within minutes of the fire being reported, prices began to go up at gas stations throughout the state. Locally, the price has shot up at least on average 35 cents a gallon, or about 9 percent. It does appear the price has leveled off at right about $4 a gallon, give or take 20 cents depending on the station. At some of the brand-name stations, the lowest price is closer to $4.30 a gallon.

We are seeing far too many spikes in gas prices. It seems every little hiccup, no matter where it occurs in the world, is reason for

And the Politicians will "investigate" this. They will find everything is legal - since they wrote the laws and regulations to benefit their contributors (owners) which are the oil companies and the Sierra Club at the same time.

I did not need to read this article to figure that out. Oil companies, speculators, and oil refineries will make sure of that.

There is nothing suspicious about the speculators bellying up to the trough for a money feast.

Suspicious??? perhaps if the spike was occassional.
Ludicrious?? perhaps if there wasn't a 'market for the gas at any price'.

Greed.

That is the reason for the increase and the reason for consumers to be angry.

It's what we're prepared to put up with, mainly corrupt politicians (though they have other names for their graft these days), that causes this sort of thing.

Until the politicians are not making profits from Big Oil, nothing will ever be investigated into the price spikes for gas and oil. There is absolutely no reason for a threat or a small fire to have an immediate impact on the price of gas or oil. If the threat becomes reality, then there is an excuse. If all the refineries are burned then there is an excuse, but until those things happen, no way.

Gas station do not make money on gasoline so I guess they see an opportunity to make extra money by raising their prices.

Duh! Is anyone in state AG offices around the country seeing this!

Average, everyday citizens need to start contacting them ASAP!

Obviously, most people would rather pay 50 cents more a gallon than email their state AG!

EPA is at Fault! They Limit the amount of refineries so we are always on the edge of a spike when they shut down for maintenance or have a problem!
