‘Cell phone’ crashes exceed 1,100 in three West Michigan counties. People still talk on their cell phones while driving, either with a blue tooth or hands free. The cell phone ban while driving is enforced very little and is not working. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Using cell phones and texting can be a major problem, but they are not the only ones. There are so much new technology, which is often made too be smaller, lighter, easier too carry, and not have too bring anything to extend. Some large vehicles, like minivans and SUV's are not equipped with LCD/LED screens so other can watch, more things around the dash board and sets (radios/MP3/CD players, ac/heating, lighters & ash trays, clocks, and digital maps. The reason for this stuff is so that the automakers can have a chance too sell more widely equipped autos. It will take a lot of understands and changes to really have something take effect. So have already been started, like devices which carry a cell phone and speaker/headphones.
There are going to be some who like this. They are really drivers, but insurance companies, garages, and lawyers!

Ugh! It is not just being on the cell phone, or texting. How many soccer Moms have you seen turning around in their seat yelling at their "perfect" children? Or putting on makeup? Or gulping their Latte?
It is not just cell phones (but THEY are a major distraction), it is ALL distractions.
Please, concentrate on your driving.

Make the cell phone service providers libel because they provide the attractive nuisance. This will stop the problem when the service providers start paying out big bucks for being the cause of the accidents.

the fine for using your cellphone when driving should be so high for a first offense that one would really get the message.

When will people stop using their cellphones while driving? Hands free, or whatever, is distracting in any case. Can't people wait to be sitting down to have a conversation, like before cellphones & smartphones?

Many good posts... One of the best recommended is to pull to the side of the road and answer or make your call... How many will do that???? I know of one that was on the cell phone and tried to open a bottle of water at the same time. She rolled the SUV after losing control in order to avoid hitting another car.. She lived and visits many meeting and schools to tell her story... She is very lucky, there are many who can not tell their story anymore..

people are stupid. to talk or test whild driving is stupid but many still do, just like they eat, or drink while driving. laws still can't even stop drivers from driving drunk (alot of judges still don't think it much of a crime)

"If it wasn't cell phones, it would've been eating, messing with radio or putting on makeup."
Do any of those other activities involve the entire travel time for some people like cell phone use does?
I personally saw three near accidents during a twenty minute period on I-10 today. Wanna guess what all of them were during?

I agree, people should pay attention when driving. But how many accidents were caused by changing radio stations, make up, dropping and picking up things off the floor, or yelling at kids in back seat. It is part of life. Just remember, you are driving a 1 1/2 ton weapon
