Handful of states pulls national average higher single-handedly by 3c/gal

GasBuddy Blog -- If you live under a rock and somehow are reading this blog, you may not be aware that problems with refineries and pipelines in Illinois and Wisconsin are making a great impact on gasoline prices in that region. States affected include Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. So far today, average prices are up 7.7c/gal in Illinois, 8.2c/gal in Michigan, 7.4c/gal in Indiana, 5.3c/gal in Wisconsin, 7.0c/gal in Ohio, and up 2.3c/gal in Kentucky. Keep in mind these averages will continue to rise as prices at the pump continue rising at more stations as the day wears on.

The increase in these states is so massive, it has pulled up the national average by almost 3c/gal at this moment today. Without the above mentioned...

What aggravates me even more is that areas with oil refineries should be paying LESS for gas than areas where oil is not refined in their backyards! We have a major Chevron refinery less than 20 miles from us, and pay more for Chevron gas than those who live farther away. I don't get it???

2 days later we are are at $3.69-$3.89 at most stations (minimum. Got refineries nearby but we are always nearly highest in the nation due to Washington state gas taxes. Time to move!

Last Weds price in MD $3.41, Friday it went to $3.51, today $3.59. These are some steep price increases, with no real reason as to why they are jumping like this.

it's going up everywhere. Been jumping over 50 cents / gallon in the last month. No reason.

Has anyone else noticed that the highest prices, or red areas, in the central US states, matches closely the location of Speedway / Super America gas stations?

The Romulus station near Detroit is not on the highest priced gas stations in the area!! just maybe the States Attorney finally did his job!! it will take us about 6 months to find out!1 the crook who has been operating this station needs jail time for all the money he has robbed from the Detroit area Consumer!! His friends who sill have their gas priced at 44.29.9 should join him!!Shell ,Marathon and Valero should also be jailed!!

The trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3 to $3.50/gallon is Not the new low!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

I'm near Flint Michigan, gas ranges here $3.78 to $4.19 as of this a.m.
yes that is for regular in a 12 mile radius.
