"I am soooo sick of the prices in this country going crazy because some knuckleheads in the Middle East are always trying to start wars. Keep our own oil let them choke on theirs." While that's a nice thought, it won't get us anywhere. Plus, we don't produce enough of our own. As it is, they're gonna export more gas, oil products, etc. However, if we didn't produce what we did the prices would be higher still. We are part of the worlds oil market and prices are effected by the world not by us alone. It could be worse, but I'd fill up now before it goes up more.

"I hope oil falls through the floor and speculators like this guy loose their shirts" I hope that you truly learn what and who speculators ARE. If you invest, you're a speculator as we all are. Don't listen and be brainwashed by the media and their speculator BS when it's the MANIPUTLATORS that make the prices go up or down. If that guy you're referring to is smart and knowledgeable enough, he'll make money when it's going up or when the price goes down. Personally, I want to see everyone do well in life.

"This is good timing because the oceans are rising because of global warming" It won't make much of a difference. I might be a greenie, and I can modify vehicles to get more mileage out of them, but it WON'T make much of a difference. It's not just fuel that's, it all the over-population of the world and natural cycles as well.

twinfanMN, Thanks for the note, I have two bikes, my high mpg bike is an '05 BMW F650GS, its a single cylinder fuel injected model that gets mid 70's when I don't flog it. Great commuter bike. The road bike is a 2000 Kawasaki Concours, gets 40-42 mpg pretty consistently in a lot more comfort than the BMW. Ride on!

cushing is a giant storage terminal. when your oil is transmitted there, it is put in storage tanks. once your oil is in storage, you pay a fee for that storage. when you order your oil transmitted out of cushing to whereever, your order waits in line behind all the other orders for transmission using the same facility your oil will use. no taking cuts. when oil is scarce, this process in relatively quick. when there is a glut of oil in storage, as there has been since 2009, this process can take days to weeks. all the while, storage fees, interest charges and the time value of money all add to cost of your oil.
