Going to the nearest GasBuddy site (SouthDakotaGasPrices, ColoradoGasPrices, etc.) can be very helpful in understanding how GasBuddy works, and provide much helpful information. If you wish to report gas prices online, then you'll need to log into the closest gas prices web page (RapidCityGasPrices, WyomingGasPrices, DenverGasPrices, etc.) If you have been using your Android device only, then you're only getting a small slice of the big GasBuddy pie. Continuing - I lost portions of my Commuter Award percentage (twice) because my iPod Touch had lost its positioning. I was not pleased at all. That's how it works as I understand it, and the Gasbuddy people confirmed the need for the device to be in the near vicinity for Awards % to be applied. It's a safeguard against people making up prices for stations, and corrupting the integrity of the program. I get it. I'm not happy I lost some percentages, but I get it. Does that help?

I love Taco Johns and Star Trek also! Your question has an unpleasant answer, but I'll explain it. The reason TX and NM aren't being credited to your Awards is because your Android device isn't there. Both the Android and iOS devices use Cell tower or GPS triangulation to approximate your device's position. It is used to verify that you are indeed near the stations you are reporting on. Without that verification, your efforts are unfortunately wasted. Continued.

Yes, GasBuddy is the umbrella organization over all the gas price sites in the U.S. and Canada. All states and most major cities have their own gas price webpage. Wished I had thought of it. The full experience includes the online webpages, and that's where you can be social, get points from reading articles, and get points for posting in the vast number of Forums. It's crazy, and wish more now that I had thought of it! I had the whole thing to start with, since Cell phones weren't as smart as they are now. It was all web based. But now, the trend has completely shifted towards the mobile environment. Have you started collecting awards? I got an iPod Touch and have been crawling up the Awards levels. Very addictive when another level is achieved, Wish I would of thought of that one also. It must sound like I just don't think much. Since you asked, I am a GasBuddy that greets other GasBuddies that happen to be passing through Colorado, through Denver, or just joining up. It's my way of making GasBuddy more welcoming, and giving helpful information where I can. It is also a social greeting as well. We used to drive from here to Las Vegas, Nevada a lot. Mother-in-Law moved here in 2010, so that trip is out. About every year or so, I drive from here to Virginia to see relatives. The GasBuddy sites are very useful when making that drive.
